Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (3-7-1, 0-4 NJAC) turned in a good defensive effort but fell by a 1-0 score to Montclair State (6-3-2, 4-0 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys were held scoreless for the fifth consecutive outing.

The NJAC foes locked up in a tight affair as the Red Hawks held Stockton without a shot during the first half. The Osprey defense also was up to the task, keeping the visitors off the board for a 0-0 tie at the break. The scoreless contest was broken in the 53rd minute as Emily Beenders converted a cross from Cassidy Mazzone for the 1-0 margin.

The Ospreys had an opportunity for the equalizer in the 75th minute, when
Mairead McKeary (Cranford/Cranford) took a crossing pass from
Dasey DiElmo (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands). But the attempt was thwarted and the Red Hawks were able to run out the clock for the 1-0 victory.

McKeary and
Lindsey Thomas (Swedesboro/Kingsway) were the only players able to put shots on net for Stockton in the game. Goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) made five saves in net for Stockton. Phoebe Bledsoe kicked out both attempts by Stockton in earning her fourth win of the season for Montclair State.

Stockton will finish up their three-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon. The Ospreys will take on Wilkes University in a non-conference match beginning at 5 pm.
