Mahwah, NJ – Stockton University (21-4, 6-0 NJAC) kicked off a busy stretch of five matches in three days with a 3-0 sweep of Ramapo (6-18, 1-5) that was the 14th win in a row for the Ospreys. Stockton also remained unbeaten in conference play with the victory.
Allie Desmond (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) spiked a match-high 17 kills followed by
Julie Kohlhoff (West Islip, NY/West Islip) with seven kills and three blocks.
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) filled the stat sheet with 28 assists, seven digs, six kills, three aces and two blocks.
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) led all players with 17 digs.
Christie Louer (Clifton/Clifton) chipped in with 10 digs, five kills, three assists and two aces.
Stockton fell behind 7-3 in the first set, and the frame was tied 15-15 before the Ospreys pulled away with a 10-4 run to win 25-19. Sullivan led the spurt with three kills, three assists and a block. In the second frame, Stockton scored five straight points to extend its lead to 15-8 on the way to another 25-19 triumph.
Stockton raced out to a 7-2 lead in the third set behind four early kills by Desmond. Ramapo fought back to take a 20-17 lead before the Ospreys regained the lead at 21-20 with four straight points, including two kills by Sullivan. Ramapo had a set point at 24-23 before the Ospreys scored three straight markers to close out the match 26-24.
Stockton will compete in the Stevens Invitational tomorrow and Saturday. Tomorrow, the Ospreys will play Scranton at 6 pm followed by Ithaca at 8 pm.
