Stockton Edged 1-0 by St. Joseph’s-LI

Patchogue, NY – Stockton University (7-7-3) made the trek to Long Island for its last non-conference game of the season but yielded a late goal that proved to be the difference in a 1-0 setback to St. Joseph's-Long Island (8-6-1).
 
Stockton outshot the home team 22-8 and had a 7-2 advantage in corners, however the Ospreys were shut out for the fourth time this season. Christian Bik (Vineland/St. Augustine) registered a game-high five shots, including three on goal.
 
Stockton outshot the Golden Eagles 10-4 in a scoreless first half. Eucario Solano (Galloway/Absegami) came close late in the half with a shot off the post just 1:13 before the break. The Ospreys ramped up the pressure in the second half with a 12-4 advantage in shots, including seven on goal, and 6-0 in corner kicks.
 
The game stayed 0-0 until less than 20 minutes remained. Rayneri Ruiz broke through for St. Joseph's-LI with 18:04 on the clock for the only goal of the night. The Ospreys pushed hard for the tying goal, attempting six shots and four corners in the last 17:07, but they were unable find the net and suffered the 1-0 defeat.
 
Stockton goalkeeper Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown) got the start and made three saves in the match. Golden Eagles' goalie Tyler Flaherty stymied the Ospreys with nine saves. In addition to Bik's five shots, Solano and Zach Burns (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) recorded three shots apiece.
 
Stockton will play its third straight road game on Saturday when the Ospreys visit New Jersey City for an NJAC game at 1 pm.
