Stockton Clinches NJAC Playoff Berth with 4-0 Win

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (11-4, 3-2 NJAC) clinched a berth in the NJAC Tournament with a 4-0 win over Ramapo (4-11, 0-6) that was the fourth straight win for the Ospreys. Four different Stockton players scored, with sophomore back Lauryn Flynn (Warren Grove/Southern Regional) netting her first career goal.

All four markers came in a span of just over 13 minutes during the first half. Victoria Caiazzo (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) opened the scoring with her team-leading sixth marker of the year and sophomore Issy Gilhooley (Ocean City/Ocean City) notched her first career point with the assist.

After a penalty corner, Gilhooley sent the ball toward the net, where it deflected off a Ramapo defender's stick and right to Caiazzo for the finish and a 1-0 lead. Just 3:31 later, Britney Stein (Ocean City/Ocean City) stickhandled around a defender and shot a backhand into the cage for her fifth goal of the year to make it 2-0.

Less than three minutes after Stein's goal, Kassidy Wentzell (Hammonton/St. Joseph) potted her second marker of the year. Stein took a shot that was stopped with a defensive save by Ramapo's Melissa Doran, but Wentzell pounced on the rebound as deposited it into the open net for a 3-0 lead.

Like Stockton's first goal, the fourth one also came on a penalty corner. The Ospreys strung multiple passes together, the last of which was a centering feed from Sarah Fisher (Monroeville/Woodstown) to Flynn in front, where she fired a shot home for her first college counter.

Flynn's goal gave the Ospreys a commanding 4-0 lead with 8:32 left in the first half and Stockton cruised from there. The bench got into the act in the second half as players rotated in and out. Every healthy Osprey saw action in the game as Stockton nailed down an NJAC playoff spot and extended its winning streak to four with the 4-0 victory.

Three goalkeepers combined to shut out the Roadrunners. Starter Emily Gilligan (West Deptford/West Deptford) made two saves in the first half. Natalie Ricevuto (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) started the second half and stopped the lone shot on goal that she faced in 26:34.

Niya Calloway (Matawan/Matawan) did not need to make a stop in the last 8:26 to close out the win. Ramapo goalie Samantha Stolker finished with two saves for the visitors.

Stockton's last two regular season games will be on the road, starting with a non-conference match at Wesley College on Thursday at 7 pm.
