Ewing, NJ – Stockton University (12-5, 3-3 NJAC) finished up the NJAC regular season dropping a 4-1 defeat at the hands of The College of New Jersey (13-3, 4-2 NJAC) on Saturday night. The Lions are ranked #5 nationally by the NFCHA.

The Lions tallied three times in the first half, two coming in a span of 1:28 for as 3-0 lead at the break. Tori Tiefenthaler opened the scoring at 4:59. Tori Hannah and Tiefenthaler hit the back of the cage for two quick goals.

Hannah scored off a penalty corner at 25:30, then Tiefenthaler potted a rebound at 26:58 after a defensive save by
Casey Cordonna (Barrington/Haddon Heights). The Ospreys managed just one shot during the opening frame by
Isabelle Marsh (Franklinville/Delsea), that sailed wide, halfway through the period.

TCNJ kept up the pressure and scored at 41:07 of the second half, when Cayla Andrews tallied in front from Samantha Reed. Andrews squeezed the shot by
Victoria Caiazzo (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) who tried to make a defensive save but came away empty.

Stockton broke through to stifle the shutout at 59:18 when
Kassidy Wentzell (Hammonton/St. Joseph's) scored her third goal of the season. After a scramble inside the arc, Wentzell blasted a shot that hit the back of the cage to cut the lead to 4-1.

The Ospreys tried to keep the momentum going with three consecutive penalty corners after the score. Wentzell was able to get one shot on net but it was kicked away. The Lions defense stiffened and set the final score at 4-1.

Emily Gilligan (West Deptford/West Deptford) faced 16 shots making six saves in the loss. Her counterpart, Maddie Beaumont made one save out of the three shots she faced.

Stockton will begin play as the #4 seed in the NJAC Tournament on Wednesday night at #1 seeded Rowan University. The game will start at 7 pm.
