King's College, PA – Stockton University (8-2-3) and King's College (4-5-0) faced off in a non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon, with the Ospreys picking up a 3-0 victory.
Alexa Simonetti (Wayne/Wayne Valley) led the Ospreys with a goal and assist.
Stockton carried most of the play during the first half, firing three shots on net without success. The Osprey defense was solid as they allowed three shots, none being on goal, with the first attempt not coming until the 20th minute. The first 45 minutes ended with the score knotted at 0-0.
The Ospreys had two opportunities in the 17th minute to get into the scoring column.
Susan Porambo (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) and
Salena LeDonne Parsippany/Parsippany) put a pair of shots on net within 43 seconds of each other but could not score.
Stockton came out aggressively to start the second frame and capitalized right away. Simonetti took a crossing pass from
Dasey DiElmo (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands) and hit the top left corner for the 1-0 lead. Simonetti's fourth goal of the season came just 1:32 into the half.
In the 59th minute, the Ospreys tacked on another marker. The Monarchs could not clear a loose ball in front of their net, where
Brenna Clowney (Mullica Hill/Clearview) collected it. Her second goal of the season made it a two-goal margin at 2-0.
Stockton kept up the pressure as they potted their third score of the day at 72:31. Sophomore
Bri Pagnani (Bordentown/Bordentown) tallied her second goal for the season, as
Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) gained the end line and crossed a pass to Clowney. Clowney's attempt was kicked away but found Simonetti. Her pass gave Pagnani a header opportunity that hit the net and set the final score at 3-0 in favor of the Ospreys.
Goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) only faced five shots during the game but did not have to make a save in recording her eighth shutout of the season.
Tara Bender faced 10 shots on goal during the match for the Monarchs, making seven saves. Emma Baumbusch fired three of the home team's five shots on the day.
