Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (9-2-3, 3-1-1 NJAC) led wire-to-wire, as they downed William Paterson (5-8, 1-4 NJAC) by a 3-0 score on Saturday afternoon.
Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) scored a pair of goals, while goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) broke the Stockton record for minutes played by a goalkeeper. Stockton is unbeaten in 13 of their last 14 matches.
The Ospreys controlled the first half, out shooting the Pioneers 15-2 with 11 shots on net. Stockton broke through at 37:08 when
Madison Dorney (Washington Twp. /Washington Twp.) scored her third goal for the season off a rebound for a 1-0 lead. The Osprey defense stifled the Pioneers and the score remained at 1-0 until the half.
4:02 into the second half, LeDonne took a through ball from
Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) and shot to the far right post for her sixth goal of the year and a 2-0 lead. In the 58th minute, LeDonne nailed her second of the day for a three-goal margin. She took a pass from Dorney and hit the far right side again to set the final score at 3-0.
Pallante earned the win making three save on the day. The senior broke the record of 7,150 minutes played in a career, set by
Sarah Hinkle (2010-13). Pallante now has 7,221 minutes played in her illustrious career and posted her NJAC leading ninth shutout of the season.
She is one shutout away from tying Kristen Alexandersen (1992-95) for second on the all-time list for shutouts with 35. The all-time record is 38 set by Sarah Miller (1998-2001).
Erica Hickey made 11 saves in net for the Pioneers, with 10 coming in the first half. Teammate Lorraine Moffit fired two shots on net for William Paterson.
Stockton will return home to take on The College of New Jersey on Wednesday night for their next match. Game time is set for 7 pm.
