Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-2) played a tough first half, but fell short in the second half to Catholic University (2-2) 61-43 in the Stockton Tip-Off Tournament Championship game on Saturday afternoon. Â
April Peterson (Lafayette/High Point) led the Ospreys with 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Ospreys got off to a good start, keeping the contest knotted at 15-15 after one quarter against the Cardinals. Peterson led the home team with six points during the first 10 minutes of play. The second frame was just as taut as the Cardinals forged a two-point lead at the break 27-25. Stockton was aided by 41.7% (10-24) shooting to keep the game close.

The second half proved Stockton's undoing as the visitors started getting the ball inside against the Ospreys. Catholic pressured Stockton into just nine points in each of the final two periods, while tallying 34 markers, pulling away for the 61-43 victory.

Freshman
Emily Donzanti (Toms River/Toms River South) was the only other Osprey in double figures with 11 points and topped the squad with four assists and three steals.

Luca Mamula scored 18 points to top all players for Catholic, while teammates Megan Stafford and Sydney Poindexter chipped in with 10 points apiece. Stafford added 15 rebounds, while Poindexter grabbed 11 boards, as Catholic out rebounded Stockton 57-23 on the day.

Stockton will begin NJAC play on Tuesday, as they will host The College of New Jersey. Tip-off is set for 6 pm.
