Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stockton Downed on the Road at Ramapo

Mahwah, NJ – Stockton University (3-2, 2-1 NJAC) struggled to put the ball in the basket and fell to Ramapo (6-1, 2-1) 77-50 in the first countable road game of the season for the Ospreys (Penn was an exhibition). Steve Ferebee (Galloway/Absegami) topped Stockton with 16 points.

Tariq Baker (Brooklyn NY/St Anthony's) also hit double figures with 11 points. Ferebee and Baker shot a combined 9-19 (47.4%) but the Ospreys hit just 30.4 percent of their shots from the floor overall (17-56), including only 8-34 (23.5%) from three-point range.

Ferebee opened the game with a three-pointer but Stockton did not score again for nearly six minutes in a harbinger of the way the game would go for the Ospreys. Still, Stockton trailed by just two, 19-17, after a jumper by Keenan Williams Jr. (Paulsboro/Paulsboro) with 7:23 on the first-half clock.

The game spiraled from there as Stockton was outscored 19-7 the rest of the period for a sizeable 38-24 deficit at the break. Ferebee tallied eight points and five rebounds in the half. The Ospreys were unable to make a charge in the second half, shooting only 24.1 percent (7-29) from the field. The margin never dipped below 13 points and Stockton suffered the 77-50 setback.

Ramapo's Rob Lewis led all players with 22 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Rob McWilliams contributed 16 points and nine boards for the Roadrunners.

Stockton returns home to host South Jersey rival Rowan University in an NJAC game at The Sports Center on Wednesday at 8 pm.
