Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (6-17, 3-8 NJAC) fell behind early and could not recover, as the Ospreys dropped a 13-1 decision to Rutgers Camden (18-10, 7-4 NJAC) on Thursday afternoon.  Zach Gustites (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) drove in the only run of the day for Stockton.

The Scarlet Raptors took control of the game in the first two innings, as they plated six markers for a quick 6-0 lead after the two frames. Stockton got one back in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Garrhet Reedy (Tinton Falls/Monmouth) reached on one of the Ospreys four hits on the day.
 
After advancing to second base, Gustites laced a single to left center, plating Reedy, to cut the margin to 6-1. Unfortunately, that was as close as the Ospreys would come. The Scarlet Raptors put up single runs in the fifth and sixth innings and a five spot in the eighth for the 13-1 final.
 
Mike DeSenzo (Pompton Plains/Pequannock) and Jeff Schick (Marlton/Cherokee) registered the other safeties for Stockton in the game. Brandon Perna (Cherry Hill/CH West) started for Stockton, tossing seven innings and striking out four batters.
 
Tyler Travis and Nolan Gerold led the 19-hit attack for Rutgers Camden, with Matt Yanick blasting a home run. Ian Scheidemann won his sixth game for the visitors, with eight strong innings on the hill.
 
The two teams will face off again tomorrow in Camden for the second of the home-and-home series. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm.
