Stockton Blanked Twice by Ramapo

Mahwah, NJ – Stockton University (20-14, 7-7 NJAC) could not break out of its recent offensive doldrums and was blanked 1-0 and 5-0 in a conference doubleheader at Ramapo (15-9, 4-4). Casey Schieda (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) ripped a double in each game to account for two of Stockton's seven hits on the day.

Despite the outcome, pitcher Hannah Bibeault (Hopatcong/Hopatcong) continued her outstanding senior season in game one. Bibeault tossed a four-hitter and struck out a season-high eight batters but dropped to a still-impressive 11-3 on the season.

Schieda and Ashley Lobell (Cedar Knolls/Whippany Park) each doubled for the only two hits of the game by the Ospreys. Ramapo scored the lone run on an RBI single by Ally Spellman in the bottom of the first. Stockton had a runner on second with one out in the first, fourth and fifth innings but could not convert any of its opportunities.

In the nightcap, Morgan DiVello (Atco/Hammonton) went 2-3 and Schieda added her second double of the day. Victoria Torp (West Milford/West Milford) came out of the bullpen and held the Roadrunners to two runs, one unearned, on five hits in 4.2 innings pitched but was not involved in the decision.

Ramapo took control with three runs in the second inning, two of which were unearned. Two more tallies in the fourth frame, including another one unearned, closed the scoring at 5-0. The Ospreys had a runner at second with one out in the first and sixth frames plus runners at second and third with one out in the second inning, but they again were unable to capitalize.

Stockton will play its final two doubleheaders at home, starting with an NJAC twinbill against Kean University on Tuesday at 3 pm.
