Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Stockton Dominates Kean 17-6

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (10-4) scored the first six goals of the game and never looked back as they rolled to a 17-6 win over Kean University (12-3) in the regular season finale at G. Larry James Stadium.  Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) scored a game-high five goals and dished two assists for seven points.

Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic) added three goals and five assists for a game-high eight points. Caposella entered the contest with 197 career points and became just the fourth player in Stockton history to reach the 200-point mark by handing out three assists in the first eight minutes of the game.

Three scores by Swedlund and single tallies by Joey Tiernan (Voorhees/Eastern), Tommy Gallo (Clinton/North Hunterdon) and Zack Aho (Shamong/Seneca) made it 6-0 with 3:46 left in the first period. Caposella came into the game needing three points to reach his milestone and got there with the helper on Aho's marker midway through the quarter.

The Cougars scored the next two goals for a 6-2 Osprey lead after one period. Stockton blew the game open with a 5-0 second quarter for a commanding 11-2 margin. Caposella netted two goals followed by Aho, Tiernan and Eric Ellis (Voorhees/Eastern) with one apiece.

The onslaught continued early in the third quarter as two tallies by Swedlund and one by Caposella in the first 2:17 made it a run of eight straight goals and a 14-2 advantage. Kean was held off the board for 28:58 before they scored three times in the last 1:02 of the third period. Stockton then outscored the Cougars 3-1 in the fourth quarter to close out the 17-6 victory.

In addition to the big nights for Swedlund and Caposella, Aho scored three goals followed by Tiernan with two goals and three assists. Ryan Bradley scooped five ground balls while Chris Holleritter (Oak Ridge/Jefferson Twp.) chipped in with four ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Justin Ruiz (Holmdel/Holmdel) picked up the win with eight saves in playing the first three quarters. Steven Pille (Oakland/St. Joseph Regional) finished up with three saves in the fourth stanza.

The Ospreys will await a possible postseason berth when the NCAA and ECAC brackets are announced on May 6.
