Cortland, NY – Stockton University (1-1) opened their 2018 season by splitting two matches on the first day of the Cortland Red Dragon Classic. The Ospreys downed Oneonta 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-19, 25-17) before dropping the nightcap to Nazareth by the same 3-1 score (25-17, 20-25, 25-19, 25-17) on Friday evening.
Allie Desmond (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) led the Ospreys to victory over Oneonta with 16 kills followed by
Jocelyn Holobetz (Pottsville, PA/Nativity BVM) with 10 kills.
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) dished 23 assists and
Fiona Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) added 15 assists.
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) paced the back-row defense with 14 digs while
Franceska Gustave (Edgewater/Leonia) and
Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) each contributed five blocks at the net.

Caity Ullmer (Midland Park/Midland Park) spiked 15 kills apiece versus Nazareth. Sullivan and Marziello finished with 21 and 17 assists respectively. Miller scooped 21 digs and Gustave tallied six blocks for the Ospreys.

Stockton will be back in action again tomorrow at the Red Dragon Classic, when they will face The University of Rochester at 10 am then take on Houghton College at 12:30 pm.
