Cortland, NY – Stockton University (2-2) recorded a second straight split at the Cortland Red Dragon Classic. The Ospreys started the day with a 3-1 (20-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-16) defeat to University of Rochester but rebounded to sweep Houghton College 25-21, 25-20, 25-19.
Allie Desmond (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) was named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the 12-team event.
Desmond and
Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) paced Stockton with nine kills apiece against Rochester.
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) dished 20 assists and
Fiona Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) contributed 10 helpers.
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) snagged 17 digs and Leon topped the team with six blocks.
Desmond again led the Ospreys with nine kills in the win over Houghton. Sullivan filled the stat sheet with 21 assists, seven kills, seven digs and four aces. Miller sparked the back row with 18 digs followed by
Caity Ullmer (Midland Park/Midland Park) with nine digs.
Stockton will have a week off before playing in the Buttermaker Tournament at Muhlenberg College on September 7-8.
