Camden, NJ – Stockton University (0-1, 0-1 NJAC) began the 2018-19 season with a narrow 5-4 setback to Rutgers-Camden (1-0, 1-0 NJAC) in a conference match on the road. The teams split the six singles matches but that was not enough for the Ospreys to overtake the Scarlet Raptors, who took two out of three in doubles.
Emily Steinberg (Toms River/TR North) won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and twins
Brooke Samuels and
Brenna Samuels made impressive debuts for the Ospreys.
Brooke Samuels rolled to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles and
Brenna Samuels dominated in a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
Stockton's lone doubles point came courtesy of an 8-1 rout by
Katelyn Emick (West Deptford/West Deptford) and
Theresa Fernbacher (West Milford/West Milford) in the No. 3 spot.
Stockton will be on the road again on Wednesday for a match at perennial NJAC powerhouse The College of New Jersey at 4 pm.
