Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (3-3) scored the go-ahead goal with a little over 15 minutes to play and went on to a 2-1 victory over Arcadia (2-3) that evened the Ospreys' overall record.
Eucario Solano (Galloway/Absegami) led Stockton with a goal and an assist.
The Ospreys drew an early penalty kick just 3:52 into the game and Solano buried the try for his second goal of the season, both of which have come from the penalty spot. Stockton outshot Arcadia 8-2 in the first half, including one off the post by
Villy Fortulus (Winslow Twp./Winslow Twp.), and led 1-0 at the break.
Arcadia put Stockton on the defensive early in the second half, and the Knights earned a penalty kick of their own 8:09 into the period. Ryan Hammer converted with a shot into the right side that tied the game at 1-1.
The match remained deadlocked for over 21 minutes until the Ospreys struck on a corner kick. Right after entering the game as a substitute,
Christian Bik (Vineland/St. Augustine) headed in the service by Solano for the eventual game-winner, his third goal of the season, with 15:32 on the clock.
Stockton limited Arcadia to just two shots the rest of the way. Hammer missed wide with 10 minutes to go and a header in the final minute sailed well over the top of the net as the Ospreys prevailed 2-1.
Stockton goalkeeper
Dino Gromitsaris (Bordentown/Bordentown) made one save for the victory while Jake Varrato finished with two saves for Arcadia. The Ospreys outshot the Knights 14-9 on the night, led by Fortulus with a team-high four attempts.
Stockton will begin New Jersey Athletic Conference play with a road match at Kean University on Saturday at 2 pm.
