Stockton Shuts Out St. Joseph’s-LI 2-0

Patchogue, NY – Stockton University (3-1-2) scored two goals less than five minutes apart in the first half and went on to a 2-0 victory over St. Joseph's-Long Island (1-2). The Ospreys now have gone five straight games without a loss (3-0-2) since the season opener.

Alexa Simonetti (Wayne/Wayne Valley) and Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) each scored their second goal of the season. Stockton dominated the game throughout, outshooting the Golden Eagles 30-3 including 19 shots on goal.

Simonetti netted Stockton's first goal at 19:13 by depositing the ball into an open net after it was dropped by the goalkeeper. Just 4:46 later, Frazee banged in her own rebound after a save by the goalie to make it 2-0 in favor of the Ospreys.

Stockton goalkeeper Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) did not face a shot on goal in the shutout. St. Joseph's-LI goalie Juliana Cintron-Leonardo made 17 saves to keep the game close on the scoreboard. Frazee and Simonetti unleashed a team-high six shots apiece for the Ospreys.

Stockton will begin New Jersey Athletic Conference play with a home game against Kean University at 2 pm on Saturday. The match will also include a halftime ceremony in remembrance of three-time NJAC all-conference defender DeAnna Stark (1997-2000), who passed due to cancer in January.
