St. David's, PA – Stockton University (4-1-3) extended their unbeaten streak to seven consecutive games with an impressive 3-0 win over Eastern University (2-5) on Wednesday afternoon. The Ospreys held a 21-10 advantage on shots with 12 being on net on the day.
Â
Sophomore
Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany), freshman
Jessica Heitmann (Rockaway/Morris Knolls) and sophomore
Bri Pagnani (Bordentown/Bordentown) tallied the goals for the Ospreys. The markers by Heitmann and Pagnani each were the first of their careers.
Â
Stockton wasted no time in getting on the board as LeDonne potted her second goal of the season 1:23 into the match. She tapped in a shot to the near post off a corner from
Michelle Sander (Ewing/Notre Dame) for a quick 1-0 lead. The Ospreys dominated the first half, holding a 13-4 margin in shots.
Â
In the 59th minute, Heitmann tallied her first career marker with an assist from LeDonne. LeDonne crossed a pass that was not able to be cleared by Eastern. The ball found its way to Heitmann for the finish and a 2-0 lead for Stockton.
Â
The Eagles had their best opportunity one minute later, but a header hit the crossbar and bounced harmlessly away. Pagnani put the exclamation point on the contest at 73:06 with her first career tally. After a foul on the home team, her free kick from 25 yards out into the upper corner gave the Ospreys a three-goal margin.
Â
Eastern tried vainly to get on the board, testing goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) within a two-minute span in the 79th minute. But the senior netminder was able to keep the sheet clean and preserve the 3-0 victory for Stockton and her fifth shutout of the season.
Â
The defense, led by
Kiersten Reszkowski (Freehold/Freehold Twp.), held up in front of Pallante, allowing just 10 shots in the match, with only four being on net. Pallante has not allowed a goal in 364:83 since September 9 against Meredith College.
Â
Adrianna Rowlands was outstanding in net for the Eagles, facing 21 shots and turning away nine Osprey attempts. Â
Â
Stockton will return home to face Rutgers-Newark in an NJAC matchup on Saturday. The match is scheduled for 4 pm.
