Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (12-4) won both of its matches to finish a perfect 4-0 in the two-day Osprey Classic at The Sports Center. The Ospreys needed nine set to earn their two wins, starting with a 3-1 victory over Cabrini (9-6). Stockton then stormed back from a two-set deficit to top Catholic University (12-6) 3-2.
Julie Kohlhoff (West Islip, NY/West Islip) spiked 12 kills against Cabrini for a career high that lasted only until the next match.
Allie Desmond (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) added 11 kills and
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) tallied 40 assists and 11 digs.
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) paced the defense with 22 digs followed by
Christie Louer (Clifton/Clifton) with 14 digs to go along with nine kills.
Sophia Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) chipped in with 11 digs as well.
After dropping two close sets to Catholic (25-23, 25-22), Stockton dominated the next three 25-19, 25-17, 15-5 to extend its winning streak to five. Kohlhoff smacked a career-high 15 kills and also registered six blocks.
Jocelyn Holobetz (Pottstown, PA/Nativity BVM) equaled her career high of 12 kills that was set the previous day versus Springfield.
Sullivan registered season bests of 45 assists, eight kills and five blocks. The setter also scooped 10 digs. Desmond contributed 10 kills while Miller tallied 23 digs and
Franceska Gustave (Edgewater/Leonia) led all players with seven blocks.
At the conclusion of the 11-match tourney, Sullivan was named to the All-Tournament Team along with one player from each of the other five participating teams.
Stockton will finish a six-match homestand with an NJAC tilt against New Jersey City on Tuesday at 7 pm.
