Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (13-4, 2-0 NJAC) wrapped up a six-match homestand with its sixth straight win as the Ospreys swept New Jersey City (3-9, 0-4) 25-11, 25-9, 25-18.
Franceska Gustave (Edgewater/Leonia) led the way with a career-high 10 kills.
Haley Green (Springville, UT/Maple Mountain) and
Allie Desmond (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) contributed six kills apiece to the balanced effort.
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, PA/Thomas Jefferson) and
Sophia Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) tallied seven and six digs respectively.
Alice Brandt (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) and
Fiona Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) dished five assists apiece. Stockton broke the first set open with eight straight points for a 13-4 lead, with seven markers coming on a serving run by
Sophia Marziello. The Ospreys later closed with a 7-1 spurt for the 25-11 win.
Gustave registered three early kills and a block to spark Stockton to an 8-0 lead in the second set. The sophomore added three more kills as the Ospreys cruised to the 25-9 rout. The Stockton bench got into the act in the third set, with the Ospreys building a 14-6 lead and closing out the match 25-18. All 16 healthy Stockton players saw action in the match.
Amber O'Donnell paced New Jersey City with six kills while setter Shaylah Ware finished with 15 assists and six digs. Georgina Rayo scooped a match-high nine digs for the Gothic Knights.
Stockton will play three matches at the Franklin & Marshall Scramble this weekend, starting with one against Messiah on Friday at 7 pm.
