Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (3-2, 1-2 NJAC) played its first home match of the season and won every contest for a 9-0 victory over William Paterson (0-3, 0-2). The Ospreys posted their third straight win overall and first of the season in conference play.
Stockton dominated the doubles, led by
Kristen McCormick (Galloway/Absegami) and
Renee Wornowicz (Old Bridge/Old Bridge) with an 8-0 shutout. The teams of
Maria Ibarra (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT)/
Emily Steinberg (Toms River/TR North) and
Theresa Fernbacher (West Milford/West Milford)/
Taylor Searles (Turnersville/Washington Twp.) each won 8-2.
Steinberg did not drop a game in singles, rolling 6-0, 6-0, while
Brenna Samuels (Salem/Salem) and
Katelyn Emick (West Deptford/West Deptford) each won 6-1, 6-0. McCormick contributed a 6-2, 6-0 victory and
Brooke Samuels (Salem/Salem) was a 6-1, 6-2 winner.
Ibarra prevailed in the closest match of the day, splitting sets before winning a super-tiebreaker for a 6-2, 5-7, 10-3 triumph.
Stockton will have the week off before playing in the Goucher College Invitational on September 29-30.
