Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-1-1) outshot Moravian (1-1-1) 15-2 but came away with a 1-1 tie on Wednesday night.
Emily Frazee (Port Republic/Cedar Creek) scored the lone goal for the Ospreys. Stockton was able to put 10 shots on goal on the evening.
Â
The match was scoreless until the 13-minute mark when the Greyhounds took advantage of a Stockton foul. A free kick from Sara Cassel eluded
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) on the far right side for the tally and a 1-0 lead.
Â
Frazee knotted the game in the 31st minute when she took a pass in front from
Alexa Simonetti (Wayne/Wayne Valley) for the marker. The assist was the first career helper for Simonetti as Stockton tied up the contest at 1-1.
Â
The Ospreys squeezed off three shots on net during the scoreless second half, but could not gain the winning tally and the match went to overtime.
Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) had the best chance for the Ospreys, but her attempt just missed wide left and the game continued to the second extra frame.
Â
LeDonne had another opportunity early in the second overtime period but her shot was kicked away. Neither squad was able to garner another chance and the match ended in the 1-1 deadlock.
Â
Pallante did not have to make a save in the game for Stockton, as the visitors only had two shots on the night. Jamie Daly started in net for Moravian and made six saves in the first 45 minutes. Siobhan O'Sullivan-Evangelista played the final 65 minutes, kicking out four Osprey shots.
Â
Stockton will travel to North Carolina over the weekend for their next two matches. The Ospreys will face North Carolina Wesleyan in Rocky Mount, NC on Saturday at noon, followed by a matchup with Meredith College in Raleigh, NC on Sunday, also at noon.
