Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (4-14, 1-10 NJAC) fought gamely but fell to Ramapo College (8-9, 4-7 NJAC) by a narrow 51-48 margin on Saturday afternoon.  April Peterson (Lafayette/High Point) topped the Ospreys with team-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds.

The tams traded baskets for most of the contest with neither squad able to gain a foothold during the first 10 minutes. The Roadrunners led 14-8 for their biggest lead of the game with 1:01 to play in the opening frame.

Natalie Miller New Milford/New Milford) and Peterson nailed three pointers to offset a basket by the visitors to cut the margin to 16-14 after one quarter. Peterson's bomb at the buzzer was her first career basket from behind the arc.

Ramapo jumped out again in the second period, upping the margin by five at 23-18 before the Ospreys answered. Four points by Madison Noordeloos (Hawthorne/Hawthorne) and another three by Miller in the final 3:35 forged a 26-26 tie at the break. Noordeloos tallied five markers and two blocks to help Stockton during the first half.

The Ospreys broke free in the third quarter, out scoring Ramapo 15-9, with freshman Emily Donzanti (Toms River/Toms River South) accounting for seven of the points. Stockton took a 41-35 advantage into the final frame but could not sustain the lead.

The home team stretched the lead to start the final period, 43-35 on a Peterson hoop, but the visitors rallied for 11 straight points to re-take the lead at 45-43 with 4:16 to play. Peterson knotted the contest for the final time with a basket at the 3:49 mark but Stockton could not find the basket again until 15 seconds remained.

Miller hit another shot from behind the arc to close the gap at 51-48. The Ospreys had one final chance at tying the game, but Miller's three-point attempt at the buzzer was off the mark and the final score was set at 51-48 in favor of Ramapo.
