Jersey City, N.J. – Stockton University (15-2, 3-0 NJAC) dominated New Jersey City (5-9, 0-4) in a 3-0 sweep with set scores of 25-10, 25-9, 25-12 for its eighth straight win. The Ospreys have dropped just three sets during the winning streak.
All 16 Stockton players saw action in the match, led by
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) with nine kills, 21 assists and three aces.
Sarah Walsh (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) tied Sullivan for match-high honors with nine kills.
Christie Louer (Clifton/Clifton) led all players with nine digs and served two aces.
Julie Kohlhoff (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) contributed six kills followed by
Haley Green (Springville, Utah/Maple Mountain) with five.
Walsh, Sullivan and
Charlotte Leon (Northport, N.Y./Northport) spiked two kills apiece as the Ospreys jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the first set. In the second frame, two aces by
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) highlighted a seven-point run that broke the set open at 16-4.
Stockton pulled away in the third set behind two kills, one assist and one ace by Sullivan during an 8-2 run. The Ospreys later scored four of the last five points to close out the victory 25-12.
Stockton will travel to Swarthmore College on Saturday for a tri-match in which the Ospreys play Franklin & Marshall at 2:30 p.m. followed by Swarthmore at 5 p.m.
