Montclair, N.J. – Stockton University (21-2, 5-0 NJAC) defeated Montclair State (16-6, 3-3) 3-1 in an NJAC match on the road for its 14th straight win. The teams split the first two sets before the Ospreys captured the third and fourth frames for the victory.
Christie Louer (Clifton/Clifton) led three Stockton players in double figures with a career-high 14 kills.
Julie Kohlhoff (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) slugged 12 kills followed by
Franceska Gustave (Edgewater/Leonia) with 10 kills and a team-high five blocks.
Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) dealt 46 assists and also contributed 13 digs and eight kills.
Natalie Miller (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) scooped a match-high 19 digs and
Jocelyn Holobetz (Pottstown, Pa./Nativity BVM) also reached double digits with 10 digs and spiked seven kills.
Stockton broke the first set open with seven straight points, three on kills by Louer, for a 12-6 lead on the way to a 25-20 win. The Ospreys were hampered by eight hitting errors and two service errors in a second set that they dropped 25-14 to even the match.
Stockton trailed 9-8 in the third stanza before going on a 6-1 run to seize the momentum. Gustave had two kills during the spurt. After Montclair State got within 21-20, the Ospreys closed out the set with four straight points for a 25-20 triumph.
Stockton raised its game with a .429 hitting percentage in the fourth set. Once again, the Ospreys trailed early before making a charge. Two kills by
Charlotte Leon (Northport, N.Y./Northport) highlighted a six-point burst that resulted in a 14-10 lead. From there, Stockton led by at least three the rest of the way and clinched its 14th win in a row, 25-18.
Stockton will play another conference match on Thursday when the Ospreys host Ramapo at 7 p.m.
