Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (14-3, 3-3 NJAC) finished the regular season on a down note, as the Ospreys fell to The College of New Jersey (16-0, 6-0 NJAC) by a 5-1 score on Saturday afternoon. The Lions are ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division III by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Sophomore Shelby Scott (Salem/Salem) tallied the only goal for the Ospreys on the afternoon.

The Lions broke into the scoring column early when Jess Hatch converted a penalty stroke at 4:03 of the first period for a quick 1-0 lead. Tori Tefenthaler scored with 52 seconds left in the frame for a two-goal margin.

Hatch tallied her second marker in the next period to make it 3-0 2:54 into the quarter, but Scott hit the cage 28 seconds later to slice the margin to 3-1. The rookie scored her first career goal with a tip in. Issy Gilhooley (Ocean City/Ocean City fired a pass to the diving Scott, who deflected the ball in for the score. The assist was Gilhooley's team-leading eighth of the year, tying the third-highest total in program history.

That was as close as the Ospreys would get as the Lions tallied another goal in the second period, plus the final marker in the third quarter to set the final score at 5-1. TCNJ outshot Stockton 21-4 with 16 being on net.

Osprey goalkeeper Emily Gilligan (West Deptford/West Deptford) made a season-high 11 saves, allowing four goals. Lions net minder Maddie Beaumont kicked out two shots in upping her record to a perfect 16-0.
