Ewing, N.J. – Stockton University (3-2, 0-1 NJAC) began conference play at The College of New Jersey (4-2, 1-0), the favorite in the NJAC preseason coaches poll. After leading through one quarter, the Ospreys faltered 75-50 in their second straight road game.
Kiley Gelston (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) was the lone Stockton player in double figures with a career-high 19 points. Gelston shot 8-14 (57.1%) from the field and sank three of the Ospreys' five three-pointers in the game.
Raquel Harris-Scott (Pine Hill/Overbrook) and
Chyna Wooten (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Academy) tossed in seven points apiece.
Lajerah Wright (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Stockton was hampered by 29.2 percent shooting from the field (19-65).
Gelston scored seven points and Wooten added five as the pair sparked the Ospreys to a slight 16-15 edge after one quarter. TCNJ picked up the offensive pace with 24 points in the second quarter, resulting in a 39-27 deficit for Stockton at the half.
The margin continued to grow in the second half as the Ospreys went just 1-11 from three-point range and shot 26.3 percent from the field overall (10-38). Gelston and
Ionyonia Alves (Mays Landing/Oakcrest) scored five points apiece in the second half but Stockton was unable to make up any ground and fell 75-50.
Stockton's next game will be a home contest against Delaware Valley on Monday, December 2 at 7 p.m.
