Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-2, 5-0 NJAC) used a tough defensive effort and came away with a 69-52 victory over William Paterson (5-4, 2-3 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. Five Ospreys hit double figures led by
Luciano Lubrano (Ocean City/Ocean City) with a career-high 13 points. With the win, Stockton is tied for first place in the NJAC with Montclair State at 5-0.

Stockton started slowly but gathered themselves to take the lead and the game for good in the first half. With the score tied at 7-7 at 14:59, the Ospreys ran off on a 21-7 spurt, over a span of 9:23 to take a 28-14 advantage. Â

Freshman
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) scored six markers, while Lubrano and
Tariq Baker (Brooklyn, NY/St. Anthony's) scored five points each during the run. The Ospreys settled in leading at the break 36-28. Campbell led the team with all 11 of his points in the first stanza.

The Ospreys came out on fire in the second half as
Steve Ferebee (Galloway/Absegami) scored the first five markers of the half to push the lead to 41-28 and forcing the Pioneers into an early timeout. The strategy never slowed Stockton down as they pushed the margin to 54-34 with 13:31 remaining. At one point, the Ospreys led by as many as 25 points with 11:02 left in the game.

The defense took over from there, holding William Paterson to eight points over a nine-and-a-half-minute span and cruised to the 69-52 victory. It was Stockton's fifth consecutive win, all in conference play and the Ospreys held the Pioneers to just 29.0% shooting (18-62) and forced 18 turnovers.

In addition to Lubrano, Campbell and Baker added 11 points each.
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) and
Jordan Williams (Trenton/Trenton Central) chipped in with 10 markers apiece. Flanders led all players with three steals, while teammate
Othniel Nyamekye (Irvington/Irvington) topped the Ospreys with seven rebounds and tied Flanders with three helpers.

The Pioneers were led by Dominic Mignone with a game-high 16 points, with Nasir Fields adding 11 markers and a game-high nine boards.

Stockton will be off until December 29 and 30, when the team will travel to Salem, VA to play in the Roanoke Cregger Invitational. Stockton will take on Maryville College on the 29th at 2pm. The Consolation and Championship will be played the following afternoon.
