Camden, N.J. – Stockton University (4-2, 2-0 NJAC) dominated Rutgers-Camden (3-3, 0-2) 91-67 for its fourth win in the last five games. The Ospreys shot 55.6 percent in the first half on the way to a commanding 49-23 lead at the break, and they coasted to the victory.
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) tied his career high with 19 points and added five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland) shot a torrid 4-5 from three-point range and scored 14 points followed by
Steve Ferebee (Galloway/Absegami) with 11 markers.
After trailing 5-2 early, Stockton went on a 27-7 run that ended with a Campbell three-pointer for a 29-12 advantage. The margin ballooned to 27 at 48-21 after two Flanders free throws with 1:52 on the clock and the Ospreys led 49-23 at intermission.
Stockton shot 15-27 (55.6%) from the field including 8-16 (50%) from three-point range in the first half. The Ospreys forced 13 turnovers and converted those Rutgers-Camden miscues into 19 points. Flanders and Campbell accounted for slightly more than half of Stockton's 49 points in the period with 13 and 12 counters respectively.
Stockton stayed in front by at least 22 points for the entire second half. The lead peaked at 34 when two free throws by
Jordan Williams (Trenton/Trenton Central) made it 74-40 with 11:32 remaining. The bench got into the act from there, with all 17 Ospreys playing in the rout and 15 scoring points.
In addition to the three double-digit scorers,
Tariq Baker (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Anthony's (N.J.)) went 3-3 with two three-pointers for eight points and three teammates contributed seven markers apiece. Williams established a career-high with six points as well.
After three straight road games, Stockton will host Ramapo in an NJAC matchup on Saturday at 1 p.m.
