Hilton Head, SC – Stockton University (8-5) earned its first victory of the spring by a narrow 5-4 margin over Illinois Wesleyan (4-9). The Ospreys won four of the six singles matches to earn the triumph in their third of five scheduled contests during spring break.
Emily Steinberg (Toms River/TR North) won a pair of close sets for a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No 2 singles and
Brooke Samuels (Salem/Salem) notched a 6-4 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
Brenna Samuels also prevailed in a tight match, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 4 singles.
Renee Wornowicz (Old Bridge/Old Bridge) chipped in with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at No. 6 singles.
Hailey Johnson (Middletown/Academy of Law & Public Safety) and freshman
Sarah Richardson (Atco/Hammonton) topped their opponents 8-5 to earn Stockton's lone team point in doubles play as the Ospreys edged Illinois Wesleyan 5-4.
Stockton will play St. Mary's (MD) in Hilton Head at 5:30 pm tomorrow.
