Stockton Pulls Away in Second Half for 15-5 Win

Westminster, MD – Stockton University (5-0) broke open a close game by outscoring McDaniel College (1-5) 10-1 in the second half to remain unbeaten with a 15-5 victory. The Ospreys used a balanced attack, with seven different players scoring a goal.

Eric D'Arminio (Roxbury/Roxbury) led the offense with three goals and an assist followed by Erik Anderson (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) with three goals. Goalkeeper Justin Ruiz (Holmdel/Holmdel) topped his career high from four days ago with a new career best of 22 saves.

After goals by Anderson and D'Arminio opened the scoring, McDaniel netted three straight tallies and Stockton trailed for the first time all season. Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) answered for the Ospreys and the game was tied 3-3 after one quarter.

McDaniel took a 4-3 edge with 5:35 left in the second period and the Stockton defense clamped down from there. The Ospreys held the home team scoreless for the next 28 minutes while the offense reeled off nine unanswered goals.

Will Pellicier (Monrovia, MD/Linganore) started the onslaught and D'Arminio scored with 25 seconds left in the first half to put Stockton on top 5-4. Colin Shea (Rumson/Rumson-Fair Haven), Dante Poli (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks South) and Joey Tiernan (Voorhees/Eastern) were the goal scorers in the third quarter as the Ospreys extended to 8-4.

Stockton put the game away with seven counters in the fourth period. Anderson potted a pair while Shea, D'Arminio, Poli, Swedlund and Tiernan added one goal apiece as the Ospreys rolled to the 15-5 victory.

Poli, Swedlund and Tiernan each finished with two goals and an assist. J.J. McKenna (Barnegat/Barnegat) won 10 of his 12 faceoffs and scooped five ground balls followed by Ryan Bradley (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) with four.

Stockton returns home to host Elizabethtown on Saturday at 1 pm. The Blue Jays reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament last year.
