Stockton Explodes for 20-12 Victory

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (2-0) exploded for 20 goals as the Ospreys downed Marymount University (3-2) by a 20-12 score on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) tied the school record for goals in a game with seven. Stockton fell one marker short of the record for goals in a game (21, 2015).

Stockton wasted no time in opening the scoring as freshman Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) scored her fifth of the season just 40 seconds into the contest. Less than a minute later, Pascrell scored her first marker of the day for a 2-0 lead.

After the Saints sliced the margin to 2-1, Freshman Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.) tallied the next two markers for the Ospreys for a 4-1 advantage. The Saints battled back to a 7-7 tie with 11:40 left in the half. Mary Carroll Marlton/Cherokee) hit the net twice, with Gaby Ojeda (Galloway/Absegami) scoring once for Stockton to forge the tie.

The Ospreys responded by scoring four times to just one for the visitors the rest of the half. Pascrell and Abbey Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) scored twice each to offset a score by Marymount for an 11-8 margin at the break.

The second frame was all Stockton as the Ospreys outscored the Saints 9-4 to take the contest. Pascrell finished off her big day with four more goals, while Shultz added two markers and dished three assists. Toal, Yannacone and Danielle Graham (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill West) chipped in with a goal each to set the final score at 20-12.

Pascrell also dished one assist with three caused turnovers and two draw controls on the day. Shultz also had four helpers with her four goals, with Yannacone chipping in with three markers. Carroll led all players with 10 draw controls to tie the school record while Tamara Torales (Basking Ridge/Ridge) tied another school record with five caused turnovers and grabbed four ground balls.

Brooke Hallett (Absecon/Holy Spirit) made three saves in earning her second straight win in net

For Marymount, Jessica Crew scored three goals, with teammate Madison Davis adding a goal and dishing three assists. Goalkeeper Holly Reik made 17 saves in net for the Saints.

Stockton will have a week off before their next game. The Ospreys will face Albright College in Reading, PA, next Saturday March 9. Face-off is set for 12:00 pm.
