Stockton Notches Third Straight Win, 11-8

Patchogue, NY –Stockton University (6-2) snapped a 4-4 tie with three straight goals early in the second half and went on to its third straight win, 11-8 over St. Joseph's-Long Island (3-3). Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) had a hand in more than half of Stockton's goals, scoring five and assisting on one.
 
Gaby Ojeda (Galloway/Absegami) tallied two goals and an assist while Mary Carroll (Marlton/Cherokee) contributed a goal and two assists. The Ospreys outshot the Golden Eagles 37-21, including 16-7 in the decisive second half.
 
The first half was tight, with St. Joseph's-LI potting the first two markers before Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.) and Carroll answered for a 2-2 tie. The deadlock lasted 1:15 before the home team went ahead 3-2. Ojeda drew Stockton into a 3-3 tie but the Golden Eagles pulled in front 4-3 just 1:32 after. Pascrell's first tally later resulted in a 4-4 tie at halftime.
 
Pascrell gave the Ospreys the lead for good at 5-4 only 1:07 into the second half. Danielle Graham (Cherry Hill/CH West) found the net next and Pascrell capped a run of four straight Stockton goals to increase the lead to three at 7-4. St. Joseph's got within two for the last time at 7-5 with 18:32 remaining.
 
The Ospreys maintained the lead by outscoring the home team 4-3 in the last 17 minutes. Pascrell netted two more goals while Ojeda and Abbey Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) added one apiece in the 11-8 triumph.
 
Stockton goalkeeper Brooke Hallett (Absecon/Holy Spirit) earned the win with eight saves. Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) played a strong all-around game, finishing with a team-high three caused turnovers plus three ground balls, two draw controls and an assist.
 
Up next, Stockton will host Moravian on Wednesday at 4 pm.
