Stockton Posts Second Straight Shutout, 5-0

Union, N.J. – Stockton University (2-0) scored five goals in the second half and blanked College of Staten Island (0-2) 5-0 at the Kean Cougar Classic. Five different Ospreys scored one goal apiece, led by Sydney Williams (Millville/Millville) with a goal and an assist.

Williams was one of three players to score their first goal in a Stockton uniform. Madison Dorney (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) dished two assists for the Ospreys. Stockton outshot the Dolphins 37-1 and held a 12-1 advantage on corner kicks.

Despite 18 shots by the Ospreys in the first half, including seven on goal, the match was 0-0 at the break. Stockton struck quickly in the second stanza as Salena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) scored with an assist by Dorney just 58 seconds into the period.

Only 22 seconds later Brenna Clowney (Mullica Hill/Clearview) made it 2-0 and Williams assisted on the play. Williams, a transfer from Jefferson, then scored her first goal as an Osprey with Dorney's second assist of the game for three markers in the first eight minutes of the second half.

Bri Honse (Gainesville, Va./Battlefield), who transferred from Ferrum College this year, netted her first goal for Stockton at 76:48. Freshman Kayla Bieniakowski (Egg Harbor City/Cedar Creek) tallied her first career goal with an assist by fellow rookie Bri Bocelli (Marlton/Cherokee) with 1:57 remaining to seal the 5-0 victory.

Freshman Olivia Harris (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake) got the start in goal and played the first 57:37. Jennifer Devault (Mullica Hill/Kingsway) came on for the final 32:23 to complete the combined shutout. Neither goalie faced a shot on goal.

Up next, Stockton will visit Moravian on Wednesday, September 4 for a match that begins at 7:00 PM.
