Hoboken, N.J. – Stockton University (3-0) scored three straight goals to rally from an early 2-0 deficit and defeat Stevens (2-2) 3-2 for its third straight win to open the season.
Gianna Morganti (Berlin/St. Joseph's) potted the game-winning goal on a penalty stroke with 4:36 remaining.
Stevens scored twice in the first quarter to put the Ospreys in a 2-0 hole. Skylar Migliaccio converted a penalty stroke 5:59 into the game and Brynn Froehlich added the second marker with just 10 seconds left in the period.
Kassidy Wentzell (Hammonton/St. Joseph's) started Stockton's comeback with her second goal of the season. Wentzell's shot into the left corner of the cage got the Ospreys on the board with 3:23 left in the second quarter, and the deficit was 2-1 at the break.
Jennelle Long (Matawan/Matawan) knotted the game at 2-2 with her first goal of the season during the third quarter and the teams were deadlocked heading into the fourth stanza. Stockton earned a penalty stroke with 4:36 on the clock and Morganti fired the attempt into the cage for the eventual game-winner in the 3-2 triumph for the Ospreys.
The goal was Morganti's team-leading fourth of the season. She has scored at least once in all three of Stockton's games thus far. The Ospreys were outshot 11-3 and outcornered 11-2 in the fourth period, yet they found a way to win.
Stockton goalkeeper
