Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-9, 2-7 NJAC) saw their two-game winning streak come to a halt as Montclair State (12-4, 7-2 NJAC) downed the Ospreys 52-43 on Saturday afternoon.
Kiley Gelston (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) posted her first career double-double with 15 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.

The teams came out of the gate strong with Montclair State running out to a 20-15 lead after one quarter. The Red Hawks shot 57.1 percent (8-14) that included 4-6 from behind the arc. Stockton stayed within striking distance on the strength of six points by
Emily Donzanti (Toms River/Toms River South) and four by Gelston.

The pace slowed considerably in the second period as the squads battled to a 9-9 frame. The Ospreys scored the first five points of the quarter, knotting the game at 20-20, spurred by freshman
Maddie McCracken (Wildwood/Wildwood) with five markers.

Stockton held a brief 24-22 lead but went cold from the field after that. The Red Hawks finished the period on a 7-0 run, holding Stockton without a point for the final 4:15 of the half, taking a 29-24 advantage into the break.

The frigid shooting continued for the Ospreys in the third quarter as they scored just one point on a McCracken free throw and fell behind 32-25 with 4:44 remaining in the stanza. A three-ball by
Hailee Porricelli (Howell/Freehold Twp.) and another basket by
Brittina Bulli (Hackensack/Hackensack) cut the margin to 34-32 after three periods of play.

Montclair State stretched the lead to 36-32 at the beginning of the final frame, but Stockton responded with a Gelston bucket and a foul shot by
Armanee DeBarry (Millville/Millville) to get to 36-35 with 6:44 to play. That was as close as the Ospreys would come as the visitors slowly expanded the margin and set the final score at 52-43 in favor of the Red Hawks.

Donzanti added eight points, a game-high three assists and two steals while McCracken chipped in with six points and five rebounds in support of Gelston.

Montclair State was led by Nickie Carter with a game-high 17 points, with teammate Alex McKinnon adding 11 markers. Kayla Rush topped all players with 13 rebounds.

Stockton will face off against The College of New Jersey on Wednesday night for their next game. Tip-off is set for 6 pm at The Sports Center.
