Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (11-6, 8-2 NJAC) saw their brief two-game winning streak come to a halt with a tough 82-78 loss to The College of New Jersey (10-7, 7-3 NJAC) on Wednesday night.Â
Kyion Flanders (Wildwood/Wildwood) led three Ospreys in double figures with 21 points and pulled down a career-high eight rebounds.

The game started off with some tough defense by both teams. Stockton held the Lions to just 1-9 shooting from behind the arc over the first eight and a half minutes while forging a 14-9 lead. The Ospreys held a 21-13 advantage with 7:10 left in the first stanza before TCNJ answered.

A 10-0 run gave the Lions a 23-21 lead and eventually allowed the visitors to take a 43-36 margin into the break. TCNJ outscored Stockton 30-15 from the 8:38 mark until the end of the first half for the lead. Flanders tallied 14 of his team-high points during the first 20 minutes of play.

The Lions kept Stockton at bay in the second half leading by as many as 10 points before the Ospreys started to gain ground. With the score 60-53 in favor of the visitors, Flanders made a conventional three-point play, then seven straight points by freshman
DJ Campbell (Vineland/Vineland), gave Stockton a 63-60 lead with 10:19 to play.

The margin was pushed to five at the 8:13 mark at 67-62, but the Lions put on one last spurt to take the game. A 13-2 run put the Lions in front 75-69 at the 5:22 mark but the lead was not secure. Stockton was able to close to 77-76 after a pair of Campbell foul shots with 32 seconds remaining but could get no closer. The squads traded free throws in the final seconds to set the score at 82-78.

In addition to Flanders' 21 points, Campbell tallied all 15 of his points in the second half, including a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe, and pilfered two steals to top the Ospreys. Freshman
Jordan Williams (Trenton/Trenton Central) chipped in with 13 points. Willams went 5-6 from the floor including 3-4 from beyond the arc. Stockton shot 19-22 (86.4%) from the foul line to keep them in the game.

Randall Walko led TCNJ with a game-high 34 points. Teammate Travis Jocelyn added 19 points and a game-high 12 rebounds while Ryan Jensen chipped in with 12 points, 11 boards, five assists and four blocks. PJ Ringel led all players with seven assists.

Stockton will travel to Mahwah to face Ramapo College on Saturday afternoon for their next game. Tip-off is set for 1 pm.
