Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (5-0) built a four-goal lead in the first 12:08 and stayed in front the rest of the way for a 14-11 victory over Washington College (Md.) (0-5) that was the fifth straight win for the Ospreys. Stockton remained unbeaten on the season with the conquest.
Luc Swedlund (Randolph/Randolph) and
Dante Poli (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks South) paced the Ospreys with four goals and one assist apiece.
Eric D'Arminio (Roxbury/Roxbury) chipped in with two goals and two assists.
After Swedlund and Washington's Joe Tobin exchanged early goals, Stockton reeled off four straight for a 5-1 lead. Poli started the run followed by
Logan Holleritter (Oak Ridge/Jefferson Twp.) 11 seconds later after scooping the ground ball off the faceoff. D'Arminio and Poli found the net to end the spurt.
The Shoremen answered with three straight tallies to close the gap to 5-4 but Stockton regained control with a run of four more goals, two by Swedlund and one each from Poli and D'Arminio, for a 9-4 advantage. Tobin netted two markers in the last 2:20 of the half to trim Stockton's lead to 9-6 at the break.
A 4-1 run on counters by
Peter Burke (Shamong/Seneca), Poli,
Erik Anderson (Monroe Twp./Monroe Twp.) and Swedlund gave the Ospreys their biggest lead at 13-7 just past the halfway mark of the third quarter. Burke scored Stockton's only goal in the last 22 minutes but the defense protected the lead and the Ospreys prevailed 14-11.

Justin Ruiz (Holmdel/Holmdel) made six saves in the first three quarters to earn the win. Freshman goalie
Eric Lindskog (Montville/Montville) stopped five of the seven shots on goal that he faced in the fourth quarter to close the victory. In addition to his goal, Holleritter grabbed a game-high 15 ground balls.
Tobin scored a game-high five goals for Washington, followed by Jeremy Wilson with two goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Chris Del Rosario made 12 saves for the Shoremen.
Stockton will face a stiff test on Wednesday when the Ospreys visit #8 Ursinus College (4-0) for a matchup of unbeatens that begins at 7 p.m.
