Madison, NJ – Stockton University (9-14, 4-2 NJAC) played Drew University (15-5) in a non-conference matchup on Thursday night but came up on the short end of a 3-1 victory by the home team. The Rangers won by scores of 25-23, 25-18, 11-25 and 25-22. Senior
Sophia Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) recorded her 1,000th dig in the match.

The first set was tight until the Rangers sprinted out on a 7-1 run making the score 18-11 late in the first frame. Stockton battled back, down by 21-15, scoring the next four points on kills by
Emma Capriglione (Tuckerton/Pinelands) and Nicole Langish (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley), a Drew error and an ace by
Alice Brandt (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) to close within two at 21-19, forcing Drew into a timeout.

The Ospreys pulled within one at 23-22 but the Rangers closed out the set at 25-23. Langish,
Jaylah Rolle (Williamstown/Williamstown) and
Teleyah Witherspoon (Hackensack/Hackensack) led the way with three kills each, with Marziello scooping her milestone dig in the set.

Drew led wire-to-wire in set number two in the 25-18 win. The Ospreys were able to pull within two at 19-17 before the Rangers finished with a 7-1 run to win the second stanza.
Caity Ullmer (Midland Park/Midland Park) spiked four kills in the set.

Stockton came out in the third set firing on all cylinders, jumping out to a 7-1 lead. Two kills by
Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) and a pair of aces each by Marziello and
Aubrey Rentzel (York, PA/Central York) gave the Ospreys the advantage. Five more points to three by Drew made it 12-4, forcing Drew into a timeout.

The Ospreys kept up the pressure expanding the margin to 18-7 and another break for Drew to try and re-group, but to no avail as Stockton took the third set 25 11. Leon led the way with three kills, while Rentzel served three of the team's five aces in the stanza.

Set number four saw Stockton run out to a 5-2 lead before Drew fought back to knot the match at nine points apiece. The Ospreys ran off seven of the next nine points to re-take the lead at 16-11, pushing the Rangers into a timeout. Capriglione had three kills during the run.

Drew ran off a 7-2 spurt to knot the set for the second of six ties in the set at 18-18, forcing the Ospreys to a timeout to try a slow the home squad. The teams battled to the very end, but Drew was able to hold on and win 25-22.

Ullmer led the Ospreys with 11 kills, with Rentzel posting game-highs of 26 assists, three aces and 20 digs for her eighth double-double of the season. Leon and Witherspoon blocked three attempts each. Marziello tied Rentzel with three aces and scooped 14 digs. She now has 1,006 digs for her career, including 104 for Millersville in her freshman season.

Stockton next games will be a tri-match against Arcadia University and Stevenson University on Saturday in Glenside, PA. The first match will be against Arcadia at 11 am, then the Ospreys will take on Stevenson immediately after at 1 pm.
