Glenside, PA – Stockton University (10-15, 4-2 NJAC) split a tri-match on Saturday afternoon against Arcadia University and Stevenson University. The Ospreys downed host Arcadia (10-14) 3-0 by scores of 25-19, 25-12 and 25-17. Stockton followed up with a tough 3-2 loss to Stevenson (19-4). The scores were 14-25, 25-27, 25-21, 25-21 and 5-15, and the second time this year Stockton has fallen to the Mustangs.

Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) led the team with 26 kills on the day followed by
Emma Capriglione (Tuckerton/Pinelands) with 24 spikes.
Teleyah Witherspoon (Hackensack/Hackensack) blocked seven attempts in the two matches.

Leon led all players with 10 kills in the first match, with Capriglione adding eight more kills.
Aubrey Rentzel (York, PA/Central York) led all players with 19 assists, with
Sophia Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) scooping a game-high 22 digs and serving three aces in the three-set sweep.

The Ospreys fell behind by two sets against Stevenson, before rallying to take the next two frames and send it to an extra set. Unfortunately, Stevenson ran off with the 15-5 fifth set tiebreaker and the match.

Stockton started the rally in the third set when they were down by 12-9. Three errors by Stevenson, an ace by
Molly Eng (New Providence/New Providence) and a kill by Capriglione, pushed the Ospreys to a 14-12 lead.

Stockton upped their advantage to 20-16 on a pair of kills by
Caity Ullmer (Midland Park/Midland Park) and an ace by
Alice Brandt (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park). The Ospreys held on for the 25-21 win, forcing a fourth set.

The Ospreys jumped out in the fourth frame, holding a five-point lead at 11-6 before the Mustangs knotted the set at 14-14. The teams traded points and with the score tied at 20-20, Stockton scored five of the final six points to take the set at 25-21. Kills by Capriglione, Leon and Eng were the catalysts down the stretch.

The Mustangs took the match in the tiebreaker, outscoring Stockton 11-3 to open the set and cruised to the 15-5 win.

Leon and Capriglione each spiked 16 kills, with Ullmer adding 11 kills. Rentzel against led all players with 41 assists and had 14 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.

Marziello scooped another 21 digs, with three aces, while Brandt had 12 digs to help the backline.

Stockton will return to NJAC play on Tuesday night when they will travel to Jersey City to face New Jersey City. Game time is scheduled for 7pm.
