Jersey City, N.J. – Stockton University (11-15, 5-2 NJAC) went on the road and swept New Jersey City (13-7, 1-6 NJAC) 3-0 in the next to last conference match of the season. The set scores were 25-16, 25-11, 25-21 and 13 Ospreys saw action in the victory.
Charlotte Leon (Northport, N.Y./Northport) led the offense with a match-high 11 kills followed by
Emma Capriglione (Tuckerton/Pinelands) with 10 kills.
Haley Green (Springville, Utah/Maple Mountain) and freshman
Jaylah Rolle (Williamstown/Williamstown) added eight kills apiece.
Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) contributed 32 assists, nine digs, six kills and two aces in a strong all-around performance.
Sophia Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) paced the back row with a match-high 10 digs for the Ospreys.
Leon and Capriglione spiked two kills apiece as Stockton closed the first set with a 10-4 run to win 25-16. Two early kills each from Leon and Green sparked the Ospreys to an 11-3 lead in the second stanza, and they cruised from there to capture the set 25-11.
The third frame was close for most of the way. With the Ospreys holding a slim 18-17 edge, Rentzel tallied a kill and then served an ace to give Stockton some breathing room at 20-17 and they went on to close out the sweep 25-21.
Stockton will play at tri-match at Swarthmore on Saturday, facing Dickinson at 2:30 pm followed by Swarthmore at 5 pm.
