Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (10-4-3, 4-1-2 NJAC) dropped a tough 3-2 decision to visiting Muhlenberg College (3-10-1) on Wednesday night, in a non-conference matchup.
Susan Porambo (Millersville, PA/Penn Manor) had a goal and assist for the Ospreys in the evening.
Â
Stockton got on the board first at 33:59 when
Maddie Klein (Hamilton/Steinert) tapped in her third goal of the season for a 1-0 lead. Porambo gained the end line, then pushed a pass to Klein for the marker. The lead only held for 1:16 when Noemi Di Cori scored the equalizer to knot the game at 1-1. It would be the first of three tallies on the night for Di Cori.
Â
Di Cori gave the Mules the lead just before half, when she headed a marker in off a free kick from five yards out. The visitors took that 2-1 lead into the break.
Â
Porambo knotted the contest in the 61st minute when she was sent in alone by
Sydney Williams (Millville/Millville). Williams' long pass gave Porambo enough time to hit the net for her third goal of the year and gave Williams her sixth helper of the season.
Â
Unfortunately, Muhlenberg would score the eventual game winner at 70:16 when Di Cori scored her hat trick on a penalty try. After a foul in the box, Di Cori hit the low right corner for her fifth tally of the year.
Â
The Mules then had to survive a furious Stockton rally over the last 19 minutes. Selena LeDonne (Parsippany/Parsippany) had one last chance at the tie, but her floater over the netminder sailed just wide with 40 seconds left and the match ended in the 3-2 victory for the Mules.
Â
Freshman
Megan Brady (Rockaway/Morris Knolls) made her first start of the season in goal for the Ospreys and made three saves. Her counterpart Sara Pecorelli kicked out two shots.
Â
Stockton will play their final regular season home match on Saturday when the Ospreys will take on William Paterson. Kick-off is set for 1 pm and it will be Senior Day for Stockton.
