Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (3-0) concluded the fall portion of the 2021-22 season by dealing Baruch College (10-1) its first defeat of the season with a 6-3 victory. The Ospreys won five of the six singles matches to earn the team triumph.
The veteran pairing of
Elena Nunez (Madrid, Spain/Rye (N.Y.)) and
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) earned the lone doubles point for Stockton with an 8-3 win in the No. 2 slot.
Nunez then completed a perfect 6-0 fall season of singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 conquest while van Schalkwyk posted a 6-0, 6-0 shutout in her singles match. Less than 48 hours after playing in a tournament for the Stockton women's golf team,
Brynn Bowman (Ocean City/Ocean City) cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win on the tennis court.
A pair of freshmen also contributed singles victories for the Ospreys as
Sophia Pasquale (Galloway/Holy Spirit) and
Kierstyn Fenimore (Tabernacle/Seneca) won by scores of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-3 respectively to help Stockton prevail 6-3 over the Bearcats.
Stockton is finished for the fall semester after three dual match wins and one weekend tournament. The season will resume in the spring, including conference play as the NJAC shifted its women's tennis slate from the fall to the spring this year.
