Hilton Head, S.C. – Stockton University (5-0) kicked off its spring break trip with a pair of wins. The Ospreys defeated SUNY Geneseo and Webster University by identical 7-2 scores.
Elena Nunez (Madrid, Spain/Rye (NY)),
Sophia Pasquale (Galloway/Holy Spirit) and
Audrey van Schalkwyk (Haddon Hts./Paul VI) all went 4-0 on the day.
Against Geneseo, Nunez won 6-2, 6-4, Pasquale won 6-1, 6-1 and van Schalkwyk won 6-3, 6-2 in singles.
Sarb Devi (Galloway/Absegami) added a 7-5, 6-3 victory and
Kierstyn Fenimore (Tabernacle/Seneca) prevailed 6-0, 6-4.
Doubles teams of Nunez/van Schalkwyk and Pasquale/
Brynn Bowman (Ocean City/Ocean City) each posted 8-2 victories.
Against Webster, Fenimore and Pasquale rolled to wins by scores of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-2 respectively. Devi won the closest of the nine matches 6-4, 1-6, 10-5 in a super-tiebreaker. Nunez posted a 6-3, 6-2 victory and van Schalkwyk contributed a 7-5, 6-3 win.
Bowman and Pasquale cruised 8-1 in doubles while Nunez and van Schalkwyk notched an 8-5 conquest.
Stockton will play Principia College in Hilton Head tomorrow at 4:30 p.m.
