Stockton Sweeps Tri-Match over DeSales and Neumann

Aston, PA – Stockton University (15-16, 6-2 NJAC) finished the regular season on a high note, sweeping a tri-match on the road.  The Ospreys downed DeSales (18-12) 3-0, by scores of 25-19, 25-20 and 25-13, before downing Neumann (12-17) 3-1 on scores of 25-13, 22-25, 25-18 and 25-16. Caity Ullmer (Midland Park/Midland Park) led the Ospreys with 19 kills on the day.
 
In the first match of the day, Stockton was never threatened in the three-set win. The Ospreys jumped out to a large early lead before DeSales made it close at 21-17. The Ospreys were able to close out the set holding on for the 25-19 win. It was all Stockton in the middle frame, with an 11-4 start. DeSales could get no closer than five in the 25-20 win.
 
The final stanza saw Stockton jump to an 8-4 advantage, before running off seven straight points. Aubrey Rentzel (York, PA/Central York) was in the middle of the spurt serving six of the points in the 25-13 win and taking the match.
 
Charlotte Leon (Northport, NY/Northport) spiked 10 kills with Grace Brandt (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) tying for match honors with 19 digs. Rentzel dished 29 assists, served two aces, and tied her career-high with seven kills. Freshman Teleyah Witherspoon (Hackensack/Hackensack) blocked three shots.
 
Stockton's defense took center stage in the second match as the Ospreys saw four players with double digit digs and snuffing 15 shots by Neumann. Ullmer and Haley Green (Springville, UT/Maple Mountain) each had 13 kills, with Leon and freshman Jaylah Rolle (Williamstown/Williamstown) blocking five shots each.
 
Rentzel led all players with 32 assists and scooped 13 digs. Sophia Marziello (Haddonfield/Paul VI) led the team with 15 digs, while Alice Brandt (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) grabbed 11 digs and tied her career high with five aces. Molly Eng (New Providence/New Providence) rounded out the quartet on the backline with 10 digs.
 
Stockton qualified for the NJAC Tournament as the number three seed and will host William Paterson in the first round of the Tournament. Match time is set for 7pm on Tuesday night.
