Stockton Notches Fourth Straight Win, 3-1 over WPU

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (8-11, 4-1 NJAC) pulled away from William Paterson (8-7, 2-3 NJAC) by winning the third and fourth sets to complete a 3-1 victory that was the fourth straight win for the Ospreys.
 
Emma Capriglione (Tuckerton/Pinelands) led Stockton with a dominant performance of 17 kills, 15 digs and nine aces, all of which were career highs for the sophomore. Capriglione also registered a lofty .556 hitting percentage, committing just two errors in 27 attacks.
 
Caity Ullmer (Midland Park/Midland Park) and Charlotte Leon (Northport, N.Y./Northport) chipped in with 10 kills apiece while Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) added 26 assists and 10 digs. Grace Brandt (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park) scooped 13 digs for the Ospreys.
 
Stockton broke open the first set with 10 straight points for a 17-9 lead on the way to a 25-11 win. Capriglione served nine of the 10 points, including four aces. The Ospreys squandered a 22-19 lead in the second set as William Paterson closed with a 6-1 run to even the match 25-23.
 
Stockton dominated the third set with 15 kills against just one error for a .412 hitting percentage. Capriglione led the way with five kills followed by Leon with four and Ullmer with three as the trio combined for 12 kills with zero errors in the frame.
 
Capriglione sparked the Ospreys to a 4-0 lead in the fourth set with two kills and an ace in the early going. Stockton never relinquished the lead as Capriglione and Ullmer paced the offense with six and four kills respectively in a 25-21 triumph that completed the 3-1 match victory for the Ospreys.
 
The Pioneers' Leila Ksiyer tied Capriglione for match-high honors with 17 kills followed by Kathleen Burrough with nine kills and 13 digs. Setter Kristin Volavka dealt a match-high 34 assists for WPU.
 
Stockton will travel to Cabrini University on Saturday for a tri-match in which the Ospreys will face Cabrini at 11 a.m. and SUNY Cortland at 1 p.m.
