Stockton Downed by NYU 3-1

Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (9-2-2, 3-0-1 NJAC) saw their 11-match unbeaten streak come to a halt as NYU (7-3-0) defeated the Ospreys 3-1 in a non-conference tilt on Tuesday night. Jessica Heitmann (Rockaway/Morris Hills) tallied the only goal of the game for Stockton.

Stockton had an early chance at a goal when Sydney Williams (Millville/Millville) broke in and fired a shot to the low left corner that was erased at the 2:50 mark. The Violets proceeded to carry the pace of play through the rest of the first half and were able to score a pair of goals. The two markers came at 14:01, then again in the 30th minute to give the visitors a 2-0 lead at the break.

NYU scored their third tally of the match at 60:43 before Heitmann broke the shutout with her third goal of the season just two minutes later. The senior got behind the defense and took a lead pass from freshman Emily Hauck (Lebanon, Pa./Northern Lebanon) and deposited the ball into the net to slice the margin to 3-1.

That was as close as Stockton would get as the Violets shut down the rest of the Ospreys' offense in the 3-1 victory. NYU held a 15-6 margin in shots on the night but the Ospreys were able to put five of their six attempts on net, with Heitmann getting two including the goal.

Kylee Sullivan (Jackson/Jackson Memorial) made six saves in net for the Ospreys. Riley Felsher made four saves in gaining the win for NYU in goal.

Stockton will play the second of a three-game homestand on Saturday when the Ospreys host Montclair State in NJAC action. Match time is scheduled for 1 pm.
