Union, N.J. – Stockton University (0-2) traveled north to Kean University (4-0) for the second time this spring and wound up with the same outcome, a one-goal defeat, this time a 1-0 final against the unbeaten Cougars.
After Stockton opened the season with a non-conference tilt at Kean 11 days ago, the teams met again for a matchup that counts in the NJAC standings. Freshman goaltender
Kylie Mitchell (Shamong/Seneca) made 11 saves on the night.
In addition to Mitchell's 11 stops,
Casey Cordonna (Barrington/Haddon Hts.) and
Katie Keeney (Tuckerton/Pinelands) chipped in with one defensive save apiece. Kean outshot Stockton 18-4 and limited the Ospreys to just one penalty corner.
Kean's Jorja Hibschman scored just 2:48 into the game and Stockton was unable to come up with the tying goal over the remaining 57 minutes. Stockton managed four shots on goal but Kean goalie Belly Reynoso blanked the Ospreys with four saves, including two in the final six minutes to preserve the shutout.
As of now, Stockton has just one more scheduled game in the regular season, at Montclair State on Saturday at 2 p.m. Home games against William Paterson on March 20 and Ramapo on March 30 were canceled.
