Stockton Goes to 3-0 with Sweep of William Paterson

Wayne, N.J. – Stockton University (3-0) rolled to its third straight victory by sweeping William Paterson (0-3) 3-0 with set wins of 25-13, 25-14, 25-13. Julie Kohlhoff (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) led a trio of Ospreys in double figures with a match-high 11 kills.
 
Franceska Gustave (Edgewater/Leonia) and Haley Green (Springville, Utah/Maple Mountain) spiked 10 kills apiece. Gustave and Kohlhoff combined for 21 kills without an attack error, registering dominant hitting percentages of .769 and .647 respectively.
 
Starting setter Emily Sullivan (Bridgewater/Bridgewater-Raritan) dished 19 assists for the Ospreys. Freshman setter Aubrey Rentzel (York, Pa./Central York) saw significant action for the first time in her young career and responded with 14 assists, seven digs and two aces.
 
Trailing 9-8 early, Stockton reeled off nine straight points to take control of the first set at 17-9. Gustave served two aces and Green added two kills during the run. Stockton closed with an 8-1 spurt to take the set 25-13.
 
Two quick kills by Green sparked the Ospreys to a 5-0 lead in the second set. Gustave later pounded three kills and the Ospreys used an 11-3 onslaught to capture the second stanza 25-14.
 
The Ospreys surged ahead in the third set with eight consecutive points, seven on a serving run by Rentzel, to turn a 6-5 deficit into a 13-6 advantage. Caity Ullmer (Midland Park/Midland Park) led the way with three kills and Rentzel served two aces. Stockton coasted from there, closing out the match 25-13.
 
Dakota Apicella paced William Paterson with nine kills and 10 digs while Kyla Sebello added 17 assists and six digs for the Pioneers.
 
Stockton returns home to host Kean University on Thursday at 7 p.m.
