Galloway, N.J. – Stockton University (2-4, 0-4 NJAC) started a two-game homestand that will end the regular season with a 24-8 defeat to Rowan University (3-5, 2-1 NJAC) at the Stockton Turf Field. Junior
Casey Shultz (Sewell/Washington Twp.) recorded her 100th career point during the game.
Schultz entered the match with 98 points and paced the Ospreys with two goals and an assist.
Jennifer Toal (Pine Beach/Toms River South) and
Michelle Pascrell (Howell/Freehold Twp.) scored two goals apiece.
After an early goal by Pascrell tied the game 1-1, Rowan reeled off five straight markers for a 6-1 deficit from which Stockton was unable to recover. Toal halted the run with her first of the game but the four-goal gap at 6-2 was as close as the Ospreys came for the rest of the night.
Shultz scored a goal with 4:29 left in the first half and reached the 100-point plateau with an assist on a tally by
Holly Yannacone (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) 2:13 into the second half. Shultz is the second player in Stockton's eight-year history to reach 100 points (Zoey Kramer, 129 points, 2014-15).
Shultz later netted Stockton's final goal of the night with 20:29 remaining but the Ospreys fell 24-8. In addition to her two goals, Pascrell grabbed a team-high six draw controls.
Ashley Lechliter topped Rowan with game highs of six goals and four assists for 10 points. Elise Cohan potted five goals while Jamie Cutrera finished with four goals and three assists for the Profs.
Stockton will end the regular season by hosting Rutgers-Camden on Saturday at 4 p.m.
